Fortunately Google Photos and Moments are quite similar, but both run different tag recognition software leading to different results you have to check on both. So you lost any thing else like albums, shared albums, tags, face recognition in the process. You only sync photos and videos and included metadata.

Imagine both automatically creates new files as suggestions, and both are sync, creating new files from the others one, and again, and again, and you discover far too late that your storage is full of wasted photos you have to clean up. Sync is not a good idea when both end points are software workspaces, such can create loopbombs. If you deleted a file from Google photos, it was not deleted from Google Drive. You sync from Google cloud the optimized ones, not your originals. But willing to sync automatically Google photos and Moments (if it was what you was looking for) is not a good idea. I had the same setup as yours and on the overall, looking for something like that.
